Testimonials

We have been dealing extensively with Dominic Romeo during 2021 and 2022 while searching for a rural heritage property in Tasmania.

During this time, Dominic has been a highly valuable knowledge base for heritage properties throughout Tasmania, and their defining characteristics, restoration techniques, and important market information for us as new purchasers.

He has been generous in sharing his expert knowledge and time, providing hours of background knowledge that has helped bring us “up the learning-curve” as new owners of an important heritage property.  Dominic remained in close contact with us during our search process over these last two years.  He worked successfully with other agents to help us achieve our goals, and assisted in making us delighted custodians of an important rural heritage property that exceeds our initial expectations.

Since our successful purchase a few months ago, Dominic has remained in contact and we continue to regularly discuss new opportunities and issues in the heritage market.  He remains a very important source of real-time information on all Tasmanian heritage properties, and we expect that we will buy once again, utilizing his expert advice.

Dominic’s gentle manner and specialist sector knowledge has allowed him to work well with other agents, and helped make our purchasing decision an enjoyable process and positive outcome.  This positive journey is important for us, as long-term custodians of an important rural heritage property in the State of Tasmania.

Yours faithfully,

Gregory

My partner and I recently purchased the Faraday School house.

We loved the property from the moment we set eyes on it. Throughout the purchase process Dominic was a wealth of knowledge, his thorough understanding of Heritage Victoria, specifically in relation to the heritage listed property, ensured our purchase was informed and done with ease.

Dominic’s impeccable communication skills made him a delight to deal with and we would recommended him to any purchaser or vendor.

During the past year, my property – the Faraday School-House – has been for sale. The real estate agent charged with the responsibility of selling the property has been Mr Dominic Romeo.

For more than a hundred years, the Faraday School-House was a small rural primary school. A kidnapping, in 1972, changed the community and its school. The school was closed and over many years, the building became a derelict ruin. Twenty years passed. The Victorian Education Department sold the Faraday Primary School and shortly afterwards, the building was heritage-listed.

Over many years, changes to the building converted the school into a residence, creating a beautiful, unusual rustic home, however the essence of its history remained intact. As a home, the Faraday School House was located in a number of separate buildings. As the owner intending to down-size, I thought it would be a big ask to find new owners who would love the place as much as myself. Between early 2014 and 2016, I engaged 2 local agencies which were unable to sell my property.

About a year ago, I was delighted to read a book written by Dominic Romeo and his wife Marie, which described beautifully the many houses that the couple had fixed up. These were historic or heritage-listed buildings, remarkable for their times, loving restored. The bonus discovery was that Dominic Romeo was also a real estate agent, specialising in unique and historic homes.

My first contact with Dominic was over a cup of coffee in a local cafe and from that first meeting, I knew I had met a real estate agent, quite different from the crowd. Here was a man who’d had hands-on experience himself, fixing up places that most people would run a mile from. Dominic’s practical experience was one thing but his additional skills and enthusiasm as a real estate agent, when first viewing my property translated into a genuinely interested person, who worked hard to sell my home. Dominic remained keen and enthusiastic during the period the property was ‘on the market’. Any other person would have given up but Dominic understood, as I did, the potential of the buildings and the property. He remained convinced, thank goodness, when my own enthusiasm flagged, that there would be a buyer out there ‘who would love the place’. He strongly believed ‘someone would eventually come along’.

Earlier this year, I was ready to give up any notion of being able to sell my place, but because of Dominic’s continuing enthusiasm, the momentum continued. Through Dominic’s particular skills – and his ability to talk with potential buyers about the place ensuring they would be a good ‘fit’ – he continued to provide practical, down-to-earth information to the many, many people who viewed my home.

I would recommend Dominic as a first-class person and as a first-class real estate person, whose knowledge and ongoing interest in unusual or interesting historic or heritage-listed homes is remarkable.

I wish Dominic the very best in his future.

Sincerely,

Jill
